Good Evening Everyone,
Well Scott and I are back from beautiful Florida! We left last Thursday afternoon and returned last night. It was a wonderful break from Minnesota and the kids (I hate to say it!). The weather was perfect for Scott and I, in the upper 60s near 70. The only part I can say that was kind of disappointing was that we did not get to go swimming in the ocean or do water sports in the ocean. Both things were on my little wish list of things to do while down there. But, on Thursday we left MSP at around 3 pm and they ended up moving us from a flight that was supposed to go to Houston for a layover to Cleveland...which was AWESOME! We ended up getting moved up to elite access and first class! Again...AWESOME! On our flight to Cleveland, we truly had the smallest little plane I had ever seen...i was freaked out! there were only three seats across...but our flight was smooth and I had only flown once before in High School to San Fran so I was a bit nervous to begin with...but it was fantastic. I just loved the feeling of putting the pedal to the medal...I told Scott that it is the one thing I wish I could do someday just totally floor it and go as fast as I could go...that to me is what it felt like! I loved it! So...in our first class it was great, we got served food...or should I say...Scott got served food and I got a salad, but our waiter he felt so bad for me! oh well! free drinks, free movies! we watched the blind side on the way down! it was a great movie! Anyways, we got to Ft. Myers about 9 or 10pm and got our rental car and then headed to our hotel...whew...new city....new driving...we got so lost...i do not even know how! eventually we figred it out and checked in were dead asleep by a little after midnight just so that we could get up and go for a walk and head to the MN twins spring training game versus the Red Sox. We got there around 900am and seriously, it seeemed like we were there forever...but it was all good because I got to see a whole lot of good looking guys playing baseball, so truly no complaints! We had awesome seats...1st row next to 1st base, so by the red sox dugout. I got a great look at Justin Morneau...so again no complaints! After that we headed down to Ft. Myers Beach for a little supper at a fancy restaurant. I got some chicken thing and Scott some great fish! We were planning to walk around down there for a bit but it was so chilly when we got done eating that we decided to go back to the hotel after that....but on the way back I told Scott that there was no way I was going to be heading back to the hotel at 900pm when we do not even have any kids with and we are supposed to be enjoying our time together doing fun stuff! So we stopped to play a little mini golf....then we were really cold so we did then head back to the hotel! On Saturday morning we got up and I went for a nice run and walk before we headed over to Sanibel Island, which was a mile from our hotel! It was a different experience than we were expecting. I was expecting a mackinac island...but there was no fudge, no touristy shops...it was very bizarre. The beaches were amazing though! So Scott and I drove up the island and walked along the beach for a while taking in its beauty then we headed back down the island and decided to rent bikes as the traffic wsa getting quite congested on the island. We ended up biking on and off for about 5 hours, and I think we biked a total of around 22 + miles! We were wiped out after that! Whew! But we rode down to one end and checked out the lighthouse and then went up to a wildlife preserve at the other end, which we did not really end up seeing anything at...but it is amazing what city folks take pictures of, seriously...any bird...they would stop to take its picture! too funny! Then we went to applebees for some drinks and nachos! and finally back to fort myers beach for some shopping at a few of their touristy places. On Sunday, we really were not sure what we were going to do but decided to try to get tickets for the twins vs. yankees game...because scott heard how easy it was to get tickets from people selling them down there...well low and behold it is hard and expensive to buy tickets for the games vs the yankees....so no kidding we got there around 1115-1130 for a 100 game and around 100 we finally got standing room only tickets...so...we had to walk around the endge of the seats and watch the game...whatever...it was fine! But I was happy and elated with joy when scott happily agreed to let us leave around the 4th or 5th inning! Then we went down to Ft. Myers beach and I went for a walk while Scott relaxed with some beers in a comfy beach chair! He was happy as a lark because some nice waitress just come and getting him a new one which meant he really could just sit there and not move a muscle! then i put my swimsuit on thinking that maybe just mayeb i would go out in the water because other people were out in the water and i had walked for a hwile in the water, but there was really no way that I was going any further because it was just too chilly! and besides, it was way more enjoyable to sit on my chair and look at all the people on the beach and the things they wear. I think i look ok in a bikini, not great by any means as I would prefer to have shorts and a shirt on to walking around in a bikini, but there were some people that were wearing little bikinis that looked awful, i just do not understand what is worng with wearing appropriate attire, maybe a tankini or a one piece swim suit....seriously!!?!?! but we had agreat night at the beach and then went to a restaurant called parrot key on the island and it was amazing! we each had a drink which was great and then nachos, that were so enormous and delicious! yum! then I had two chicken breasts with mashed potatoes...and get this...scott could hardly believe it...but....i ate it all!!!!! it was just too good to throw it away! yum! On Monday we got up early (around 700) and headed back to fort myers beach and i went for a run on the beach...LOVED IT! ....never before had i ran on the beach, it was so beautiful! I did love it! Zumbrota is a nice place to run, but the beach! fabulous! and while I ran Scott went to watch the twins practice or something, which was fine because then he could not complain about me wanting to spend my morning at the beach! Our flight left at 3 and we went to houston and then on to MSP and then home...it was an fantastic vacation, no kids to worry about feeding at each meal, we could get up when we wanted, do what we pleased, when we pleased! Loved it! Thank You to Gma and Gpa Albers and Morgan for watching the kids! And this morning I think both kids were just as excited to see us and tell us all about everything that they (Henry) did while we were gone! Tonight he even put on his cowboy hat and pretended he was going to go feed the calves hay and feed and check their water, then he was going to go drive the tractor for a little bit and then he would come back in the house and have some supper and watch wheel with me...that is exactly what he told me too...it was too cute! unfortunately, olivia wanted me to hold her all day like i might leave her side again for 5 days! poor thing! any suggestions to get her walking?!?! we are thinking we might have to buy her an acutal walker to get her going. she pushes her toy and walks great, will hold our hands and walk but you let her go and she is right down on the ground crawling! stinker!
well, hope you all had a great week/end!
Now hopefully MN can warm up and start feeling like spring everyday!
